Why Exterior Paint Fails

Prep Is What Makes It Last

Most exterior paint jobs that fail after 2–3 years weren't painted badly — they were prepped badly. Paint applied over peeling old paint, cracked caulk, bare wood, or dirty siding simply can't adhere properly and will fail the same way.

We take exterior prep seriously. Every surface gets scraped to remove loose and peeling paint, sanded to a stable edge, and cleaned before anything else happens. Gaps and cracks around trim, windows, and doors get caulked. Bare wood gets primed. Then we paint.

We use high-quality exterior paints rated for Western New York's freeze-thaw cycles — the kind of formulation that flexes with your home instead of cracking when temperatures drop.

We paint home exteriors throughout North Tonawanda, Tonawanda, Grand Island, Kenmore, Amherst, Niagara Falls, Lockport, Cheektowaga, West Seneca, Williamsville, Wheatfield, and Pendleton. Free estimates anywhere in our service area.

Our Process

Built to Last Through WNY Winters

  1. 01

    Wash & Clean

We start with a thorough pressure wash or scrub to remove dirt, mildew, and chalk from the existing surface. Paint won't bond to a dirty surface.

  2. 02

    Scrape & Sand

All loose, peeling, and flaking paint is removed. Edges are feathered smooth so the new paint goes on evenly without visible edges or ridges.

  3. 03

    Caulk & Repair

Gaps around trim, windows, doors, and siding seams are sealed with flexible exterior caulk. Any rotted or damaged wood is flagged and repaired before painting over it.

  4. 04

    Prime Bare Surfaces

Any raw wood or areas taken back to bare material get primed before the finish coat. This step is critical for adhesion and even color coverage.

  5. 05

    Apply Finish Coat(s)

We apply finish paint in even, consistent passes. Most work gets two coats. We don't leave until the coverage is even, the color is solid, and the edges are clean.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time of year for exterior painting?

Late spring through early fall is ideal. Temperatures should be above 50°F and dry for at least 24 hours after application.

Do you pressure wash before painting?

Yes — we always clean the surface first. Proper prep is the difference between paint that lasts two years and paint that lasts ten.

How many coats do you apply?

Typically two coats for full coverage and durability. We use quality exterior-grade paint that stands up to Western New York winters.
